WASHINGTON, PALESTINOW.COMMike Pompeo will reportedly become the first US secretary of State to visit an Israeli settlement in the occupied Palestinian territories next week when he will travel to the Psagot winemaking company in the West Bank, a move considered illegal by the majority of the international community, according to media reports.

He will also reportedly become the first secretary of State to travel to the Golan Heights whose annexation by Israel has been recognized by Donald Trump, according to US website Axios and Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

The US State Department has not confirmed either of the visits. The department has only announced that Pompeo will visit Israel and that he will meet with Premier Benjamin Netanyahu.

Palestinian premier Mohammed Shtayyeh has said that a planned visit next week by the US secretary of state to an illegal Israeli settlement in the occupied West Bank would set a “dangerous precedent”.
