Hundreds of Palestinians took to Nablus Streets on Saturday evening, celebrating the victory of the Palestinian hunger strikers in Israeli jails.

Activists, prisoners’ families, and civil society representatives joined the mass rallies that swept Nablus following Tarawih (late evening) prayers on the first day of holy Ramadan.

The rally-goers lifted the pictures of the hunger striking detainees and chanted slogans celebrating Israel’s acceptance to meet most of the prisoners’ demands.

Speaking in speeches delivered during the rally, activists lauded the iron will and perseverance maintained by the detainees all the way through the 40-day hunger strike.

Hundreds also flocked to a sit-in tent set up in Balata refugee camp, east of Nablus, to celebrate the hunger strikers’ triumph.

At the same time, a series of marches were staged overnight to speak up for the Palestinians held in Israeli jails.
