RAMALLAH, PALESTINOW.COM — The Palestinian Prisoners Club and the Addameer Association stated on Sunday that Israel is holding 12 Palestinian mothers in its jails.
The club added in a report on the occasion of International Mother’s Day that the imprisoned mothers have 33 daughters and sons and they are deprived of open visits and cannot see their children and sons.
Since the beginning of the corona pandemic and the suspension of visits to the families of prisoners, female prisoners are allowed to see only one adult member of their family.
Several mothers are sentenced for varying periods while one mother prisoner is being held without charge or trial.
There are two mother prisoners who are being held in administrative detention.
The club underlined that the female prisoners are subjected to all kinds of abuse and torture starting from the day of their arrest.
On 08/03/2021, the occupation forces arrested Anhar al-Hajjah from Ramallah, a mother of a child and a pregnant woman in her third month. She was taken to Hasharon prison and held in difficult conditions.
The report pointed out that since 2015, the number of women who have been arrested has reached more than 900, among them mothers of prisoners and martyrs and minor girls.
