Indonesia should play strategic roles in settling Palestine issue


JAKARTA, PALESTINOW.COM — Indonesia Regional Representatives Council Speaker Mohammad Saleh said on Saturday that Indonesia and Iran should assume strategic roles in solving the problem of Palestine.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Ardashir Nourian, the envoy of Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani who submitted the latter’s invitation letter to Saleh to attend the Sixth International Conference on Supporting Intifada in Tehran.

Saleh appreciated Larijani for sending a delegation to Jakarta and his invitation letter for him to attend the conference slated for March.

He also declared his country’s support to Iran’s role in materializing the rights and independence of Palestine.

The Indonesian official also voiced his readiness to attend the event to declare his practical support to the Palestinian nation.

Contributing to development of Iran-Indonesia ties is part of the Regional Representatives Council’s responsibility, he said, noting that President Joko Widodo was satisfied with the results of agreements made during his visit to Tehran.

Nourian, for his part, said that Iran wants to cooperate with other countries and post-sanctions atmosphere has created suitable conditions for expanding ties between Iran and the world.

Iran’s priority is to promote cooperation with Islamic states such as Indonesia as the most populated Muslim country in the world, he said.

Nourian pointed out that Iranian nation has a special attitude towards Indonesia and Majlis and government favor development of bilateral ties. (source/05/02/2017)
