NEW YORK, PALESTINOW.COM — Fifty NYU student groups on Monday endorsed the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, a global campaign promoting various forms of boycott against Israel in protest of Israel’s occupation of Palestine.

The student groups endorsing the movement are calling on NYU to divest its holdings from companies and funds that are “complicit in the Israeli occupation of Palestine.” BDS Movement, inspired by the South African anti-apartheid movement, demands that Israel stops violating Palestinians’ rights under International law, including the right to education.

The groups pledged to participate in the BDS movement by boycotting Israeli goods manufactured in the Occupied Territories (except for those manufactured by Palestinians), Israeli academic institutions, conferences sponsored by the State of Israel, NYU’s pro-Israeli groups such as TorchPAC and Realize Israel, and outside groups such as Birthright.

NYU Students for Justice in Palestine endorsed the BDS movement yesterday, calling it a “non-violent method of resisting Israeli apartheid from abroad,” and saying that the group was “proud” to be a part of the “struggle for justice.”

The resolution asserts that their boycott on Israeli goods, academic institutions and pro-Israel groups is expressly not a boycott of individual Israeli students and scholars, and it does not prohibit collaboration between them and any student group endorsing the movement.

The boycotting groups are as follows:
